<p>Description</p><p><strong>Job Summary:</strong> </p><p>The Scheduling Function plays a pivotal role in the daily planning and scheduling of production processes at Steel Warehouse. This position requires a highly organized and proactive individual who can expertly manage a variety of changing factors such as labor, machine capacity, customer deadlines, and unforeseen challenges. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of Steel Warehouse operations and will be able to adapt to dynamic circumstances. Effective communication across departments is crucial to maintaining efficient operations and promptly resolving issues. </p><p><br/></p><p><strong>Key Responsibilities:</strong> </p><p><strong>Determine and manage the resources* needed to efficiently accomplish the following tasks: </strong></p><p>· Schedule and organize production activities within the ERP system to maximize efficiency and meet deadlines. </p><p>· Analyze Power BI reports to provide accurate forecasting for future production runs. </p><p>· Review customer orders to ensure accuracy and feasibility for timely delivery. </p><p>· Serve as the liaison between Operations and Sales to facilitate a smooth workflow and address any issues. </p><p>· Coordinate with Production and Logistics teams to ensure accurate data transfer and proper dispatch according to customer orders. </p><p>· Ensure all customer orders are processed with profitability and diligence by balancing overtime costs and customer service goals.</p><p>· Develop and implement daily and weekly production schedules and targets. </p><p>· Balance labor and machine capacity to optimize operations and production throughput. </p><p>· Communicate promptly and effectively with Sales when unexpected issues arise. </p><p>· Develop, maintain, and improve on-time delivery metrics for each customer and the business.</p><p>*Note, this position will start off with two experienced, full-time schedulers who are approaching retirement in the next 1 to 3 years</p><p><br/></p><p><strong>Other Expectations:</strong></p><p>· Work closely with the Global Process Owner (“Plan to Produce”) on the IT Team to determine the configuration of the new ERP – INVEX for the scheduling function for the 20+ work centers on Tucker Drive. Determine the resources needed for the future state (INVEX) of the business.</p><p>· Provide regular feedback to the leadership team regarding current orders, challenges, and production forecasts. </p><p>· Collaborate with Purchasing, Sales, and Operations teams to drive key initiatives (i.e. Stock & Hold, Mill Claims management, Expedited Shipments premium, Material Flow and Floor Space optimization). </p><p>· Identify and recommend improvements to increase productivity, efficiency, and customer satisfaction. </p><p>· Work with Operations to plan and execute efficient production shutdowns while maintaining customer service. </p><p>· Foster collaboration among diverse personalities, bringing teams together to achieve common business goals. </p><p>Requirements</p><p>Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, or a related field, or equivalent experience. </p><p>Proven experience in production scheduling, manufacturing operations, or supply chain management, preferably in a steel or heavy manufacturing environment. </p><p>Expert understanding of Steel Warehouse’s operational workflow and the factors that impact customer orders. </p><p>Strong proficiency with ERP systems and scheduling software. </p><p>Experience analyzing data and generating reports using tools like Power BI or similar platforms. </p><p>Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively across various departments. </p><p>Strong organizational skills with a keen attention to detail. </p><p>Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. </p><p>Problem-solving skills with the ability to anticipate challenges and develop solutions. </p><p>Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement practices is a plus. </p><p>Self-starter who enjoys taking initiative and driving their own path. </p><p>Ability to handle stressful situations and transform challenges into opportunities for improvement. </p>
