<p>Description</p><p>The Hospice Chaplain will provide spiritual support and guidance to patients, families, and caregivers facing end-of-life challenges. The chaplain will play a key role in addressing the emotional and spiritual needs of patients, fostering a sense of peace and comfort during this critical time.</p><p><br/></p><p><strong>Schedule: </strong>Part-Time, Weekdays, 8 Hour Days, 3 Days per Week</p><p><br/></p><p><em><strong>Primary Responsibilities and Duties:</strong></em></p><ul><li>Provide spiritual care and support to patients, families, and staff in a hospice setting, regardless of religious affiliation.</li><li>Conduct spiritual assessments to identify the individual needs and preferences of patients and families.</li><li>Offer counseling, prayer, and support during difficult times, including end-of-life discussions.</li><li>Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to ensure a holistic approach to patient care, integrating spiritual care into individualized care plans.</li><li>Facilitate memorial services, bereavement support groups, and other spiritual gatherings as needed.</li><li>Educate staff about the spiritual aspects of care and how to support patients' and families’ spiritual needs.</li><li>Maintain accurate and confidential documentation of spiritual care services provided.</li><li>Be available for on-call services and emergency support as required.</li><li>Stay informed about current trends in hospice care and spiritual care practices.</li></ul><p>Requirements</p><p><em><strong>Job Qualifications:</strong></em></p><ul><li>Master of divinity or related theological degree and/or pastoral education required.</li><li>Hospice experience preferred but not required.</li><li>Board certification from a recognized body (e.g.; Association of Professional Chaplains) preferred.</li><li>Previous experience in hospice, palliative care, or a healthcare setting is a plus.</li><li>Strong understanding of community resources and social service programs.</li><li>Strong interpersonal, communication and counseling skills.</li><li>Ability to provide compassionate care and support to individuals from diverse backgrounds and beliefs.</li><li>Strong understanding of ethical issues related to end-of-life care.</li><li>Ability to build rapport with patients through a compassionate and caring demeanor.</li></ul><p><em><strong>Physical Requirements:</strong></em></p><ul><li>Capability to perform physical tasks such as bending, standing, walking, and climbing stairs for extended periods.</li><li>Strength to handle medical equipment and assist patients with mobility and physical activities, when needed.</li><li>Visual acuity and dexterity for performing tasks such as reading medical records, documentation needed to support patients, families and caregivers, etc.</li><li>Ability to respond swiftly and efficiently to emergency situations.</li><li>Capacity to work in various home environments which may include navigating stairs, tight spaces, or uneven surfaces.</li><li>Maintain regular attendance and timeliness as set forth within the work schedule designated by the department supervisor/manager.</li><li>Job requires accepting criticism and dealing calmly and effectively with high-stress situations.</li></ul>
